The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) has implemented this regulation to prevent fraudulent calls using spoofed Austrian numbers. From this date, telecom providers must ensure that calls from abroad displaying Austrian numbers are verified. If verification fails, the number will be suppressed or the call blocked. This measure aims to enhance trust in Austrian phone numbers and protect against misuse.
